Ananda Mahidol

eighth monarch of Siam from the Chakri dynasty as Rama VIII

Ananda Mahidol (Thai: พระบาทสมเด็จพระปรเมนทรมหาอานันทมหิดล; RTGS: Ananthamahidon; 20 September 1925 – 9 June 1946), posthumous reigning title Phra Athamaramathibodin (Thai: พระอัฐมรามาธิบดินทร), was the eighth monarch of Siam from the Chakri dynasty as Rama VIII. Ananda was born in Heidelburg, Baden, in the Weimar Republic and died on June 9, 1946 at the Boromphiman Throne Hall at the Grand Palace in Bangkok, aged 20. He was believed to have either committed suicide or may have been assassinated.
