Chris Hipkins

Prime Minister of New Zealand from January to November 2023

Christopher John Hipkins (born 5 September 1978) is a New Zealand politician. He became the 41st Leader of the Opposition on 27 November 2023. He was the Prime Minister of New Zealand from January 2023 until November 2023. He became the leader of the New Zealand Labour Party in January 2023.[2]

He was the minister of education, police, the Public Service, and leader of the House in the Jacinda Ardern government. He has been the member of Parliament (MP) for Remutaka since the 2008.

On 21 January 2023, Hipkins became the only candidate to replace Ardern as leader of the Labour Party. He became party leader on 22 January 2023.[3] He became prime minister three days later.
