Dikembe Mutombo

Congolese-American basketball player (1966–2024)

Dikembe Mutombo Mpolondo Mukamba Jean-Jacques Wamutombo[1] (June 25, 1966 – September 30, 2024) was a Congolese-American professional basketball player and humanitarian. Mutombo played 18 seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played for the Denver Nuggets, Atlanta Hawks, Philadelphia 76ers, New Jersey Nets, New York Knicks and the Houston Rockets.

In October 2022, Mutombo announced that he was undergoing treatment for a brain tumor.[2] He died from brain cancer in Atlanta, Georgia on September 30, 2024 at the age of 58.[3]
