George Benson

American guitarist and singer (born 1943)

George Benson (born March 22, 1943)[3] is an American singer, songwriter and guitarist. He began his professional music career at age 21 as a jazz guitarist. He uses a rest-stroke picking technique.

Benson began as a child prodigy. He first came into being familiar in the 1960s. He played soul jazz with other singers. He later launched a successful solo career. He alternates between jazz, pop, R&B singing and scat singing.

Benson's album Breezin was a triple platinum studio album. It hit #1 on the Billboard album chart in 1976.

His concerts were well-attended in the 1980s. He still has a large following. He has gotten a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
