Greater Dhaka refers to the larger city area around Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh. It has evolved into one of the biggest cities globally and is rising at an incredible pace. In 2001, the Dhaka Metropolitan Area was 1,353 square kilometers, with Dhaka City covering 276 square kilometers.[1] The metropolitan area includes parts of Dhaka District, such as Savar and Keraniganj, Narayanganj District, which contains Narayanganj Sadar, Bandar, and Rupganj, and Gazipur District with Gazipur Sadar and Kaliakair. Estimated by the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics in 2021, the population of the three districts is over 24 million. It is also linked with some surrounding localities like Manikganj, Munshiganj, and Narsingdi.
