Jean Baptiste Point du Sable

Jean Baptiste Point du Sable (before 1750 – August 18, 1818) was the founder of the city of Chicago, Illinois in c. 1770s. Point du Sable was the first person to live in the city. He settled around where today the Chicago River is located at. He left Chicago in 1800.[1]

Point du Sable was born around the 1750s. His birthplace is not known. Many people say that he was born in Haiti. Point du Sable died on August 18, 1818 in St. Charles, Missouri.
