Jeff Flake

American diplomat and former United States senator from Arizona

Jeffry Lane Flake[1][2] (born December 31, 1962) is an American politician. Flake was the United States Ambassador to Turkey from 2022 to 2024. He was the United States Senator from Arizona. He is a member of the U.S. Republican Party. He was in the Senate from January 3, 2013 to January 3, 2019. He was in the United States House of Representatives from 2001 to 2013.[3]

Flake was born on December 31, 1962 in Snowflake, Arizona. He graduated from the Brigham Young University. He is married to Cheryl. They have five children.

After criticizing President Donald Trump and with low approval ratings, Flake announced on October 24, 2017, that he would retire at the end of his current term instead of seeking reelection in 2018.[4][5]

In July 2021, President Joe Biden nominated Flake to serve as the United States Ambassador to Turkey.[6] Flake was confirmed by the Senate by voice vote on October 26, 2021.[7] He resigned in September 2024.[8]

In September 2024, Flake announced that he would be endorsing to Vice President Kamala Harris for president in 2024.[9]
