Jim Garrett

Football player and coach (1930-2018)

James Wilbur Garrett (June 19, 1930 – February 9, 2018) was an American football player, coach, and scout. He was born in Passaic, New Jersey. He starred as a running back playing college football at Utah State University.[1] From 1987 to 2004, he served as a scout for the Dallas Cowboys.[2] He spent most of the next 40 years in the National Football League as an assistant coach with the New York Giants (1970–1973), the New Orleans Saints (1976–1977), and the Cleveland Browns (1978–1984).

Garrett died in Dallas, Texas of bronchitis on February 9, 2018 at the age of 87.[3]
