MTV (originally an acronym for Music Television until 2010) is an American cable television network. They are based in New York City. The channel launched on August 1, 1981.[2] They used to only show music videos.[3] The first music video shown on MTV was Video Killed the Radio Star by The Buggles. Today, the channel shows many different television programs aimed at adolescents and young adults.
