Ray Dalio

American billionaire hedge fund manager

Raymond Thomas Dalio (born August 8, 1949) is an American billionaire hedge fund manager, author, and philanthropist. He is the co-chief investment officer of Bridgewater Associates since the company was founded in 1985.

The firm received a US$5 million investment from the World Bank's retirement fund. It was listed as the largest hedge fund in the world in 2013.[3]

Early life and education

Dalio was born in New York City. He studied at the C.W. Post College of Long Island University before he received his M.B.A. from the Harvard Business School in the year 1973. He then launched Bridgewater in his apartment 2 years later.

In 2020, Bloomberg ranked him as the world's 79th-wealthiest person.[4]

Literary works

Apart from investing, he is the author of the book Principles: Life & Work in 2017. It covers corporate management and investment philosophy. The New York Times referred to it as "gospel of radical transparency."
