Charles III is head of state of 15 Commonwealth realms and has had 21 prime ministers throughout his reign. Within the Westminster system in each realm, the King's government is headed by a prime minister. Appointment and dismissal of prime ministers are common reserve powers that can be exercised by the King or his governors-general. Charles has appointed seven new prime ministers, the first being Rishi Sunak as Prime Minister and the most recent being Sir Keir Starmer

Coronation

The coronation of Charles III and his wife, Camilla, as king and queen and the other Commonwealth realms, took place on 6 May 2023 at Westminster Abbey. Charles acceded to the throne on 8 September 2022 upon the death of his mother, Elizabeth II. It was the first coronation held since Elizabeth II's coronation in 1953
