Stanislav Govorukhin

Soviet and Russian film director, screenwriter and actor (1936-2018)

Stanislav Sergeyevich Govorukhin PAR (Russian: Станислав Серге́евич Говорухин; 29 March 1936[1] – 14 June 2018) was a Russian movie director, screenwriter, politician and actor. He was born in Berezniki, Russian SFSR, Soviet Union. For directing, he was known for the movie The Meeting Place Cannot Be Changed. In screenwriting, he was known for Voroshilov Sharpshooter. In acting, he was known for his roles as Commander in Encore, Once More Encore! and as Zosima in Heads and Tails.

Govorukhin in 2008

Govorukhin was a member of the State Duma from 1993 until his death in 2018 serving as a conservative member of the Democratic Party of Russia. He ran for President of Russia as an Independent in the 2000 presidential election, but lost to Vladimir Putin. In the 2000s, he worked for the Putin administration and election campaigns. He was a supporter of Putin.

Govorukhin died on 14 June 2018 in Barvikha, Russia of a heart attack at the age of 82.[2]
