Transport for Wales Rail Services
Transport for Wales Rail Services (TfW Rail Services) was a British train company. It runs trains throughout Wales and parts of England. It is owned by Keolis/Amey Wales Cymru Limited. The company is also known as: Transport for Wales and TfW Rail (Welsh: Trafnidiaeth Cymru and TrC Trenau) for their day-to-day operations. It was replaced by Transport for Wales Rail Limited (owned by the Welsh Government) in February 2021.
They were awarded the contract for the Wales and Borders franchise by the (commercially separate) government body Transport for Wales in 2018. TfW Rail Services started rail operations on 14 October 2018, taking over from Arriva Trains Wales.
The company runs trains throughout Wales and into parts of England, mainly Cheshire, Shropshire, Herefordshire, Manchester, Liverpool and Birmingham.
They run local stopping services between Cardiff and towns throughout South Wales, including Swansea, Carmarthen, Bridgend and Merthyr Tydfil, as well as longer distance services between Wales and Manchester, Shrewsbury and Birmingham. Some local services also extend to Gloucester and Cheltenham.
