Autonomous Republic of Crimea

administrative division of Ukraine since 1992, not occupying the whole peninsula

The Autonomous Republic of Crimea is an autonomous region in Ukraine located on Crimean Peninsula. The republic is viewed globally as an unlawfully taken part of Ukraine by Russia.[1] Crimea was a part of Russia from 1783 until 1954. Then, they gave it to Ukraine.[2] But in 2014, Russia wanted Crimea back from Ukraine, so it took Crimea forcefully, disregarding international law.[3][4]
