Barras, I would guess I can delete this? Goblin 12:33, 20 April 2009 (UTC)Reply
Barras, I strongly reccomend that you undo this and not accept the nomination. Look at the user who created it, and their history. Also, i'm afraid at this stage I would also oppose you for much the same reason as Kennedy has. Sorry, Goblin 13:12, 20 April 2009 (UTC)Reply
I'd agree with Gobby, its a little too soon. I wouldn't hold it against you in the future if you do. It can be deleted as Gobby says. In fact if you'd like a nomination for adminship after you reach your 3 months mark, I'd be willing... Kennedy (talk) 13:14, 20 April 2009 (UTC)Reply
You created this a little bit early???? Barras (talk) 13:15, 20 April 2009 (UTC)Reply
No no it wasn't me. I didn't start this nomination. It was User:Snow funn at tall. I think he nominated you too early. Kennedy (talk) 13:20, 20 April 2009 (UTC)Reply
I meant BG7 not you. I looked too late in the history. Barras (talk) 13:53, 20 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

It was really a mistake! I thought BG7 created this RfA. I read on this page:I would guess I can accept this? I thought like please accept, or so. This was really an understanding problem. Sorry I'm not a native speaker. --Barras (talk) 13:36, 20 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Whoops! I forgot. Only the ol' "nominating cabal" can nominate people for administrator. My Bad. Snow funn at tall (talk) 20:17, 20 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Your RFA

Hello Barras,

the community has spoken, and wanted you to become an admin, with a large majority (20 of 21 votes were in favor). I did the rest, and removed the rollbacker flag - please don't weep, admins do not need it. So in very short words: welcome to the team of admins. Do not hesitate to ask me, or any other admin, if there are any questions remaining. Otherwise, have fun with the tools, but use them wisely. --Eptalon (talk) 09:37, 9 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

warnings

I think you are being a bit harsh on the newbies. At en, it takes 4 warnings before it is reported to AIV. In most cases, you give them a final warning after only an edit or two. I will respect any decision you make (you are an admin after all). Thanks. Griffinofwales (talk) 18:50, 9 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

You indefinitely blocked the user after 2 edits! Please revert you ban immediately. Thank You. Griffinofwales (talk) 18:52, 9 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

If it's been identified as a vandalism-only account, a level 4 warning and/or a block is appropriate. –Juliancolton | Talk 18:53, 9 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
After 2 edits? That sounds harsh (but I'm not an admin). Griffinofwales (talk) 18:55, 9 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
It's a matter of admin discretion, but yes, it is acceptable in certain curcumstances. –Juliancolton | Talk 18:55, 9 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
S/He did vandalism with a named account, so he get only one warning. See also the section "AGF problem or so in my archive. Best regards, Barras (talk) 18:57, 9 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
During the same minute, you gave a final warning and the 2nd edit happened. That means that your final warning might have been given after the 2nd edit. You didn't even give the editor time to check policies. Griffinofwales (talk) 19:03, 9 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

He get the message before the block and his second edit. His third edit on his talk page is also vandalism. Someone who vandalize isn't needed on simple. We need user who help, like you, but we don't need users who destroy our project. How to get unblocked is named in the block message which he removed. For me: We do not need vandalism only accounts. I know I am hard, but I do it to help the project. Regards, Barras (talk) 19:13, 9 May 2009 (UTC) When I wasn't an admin I ask after one warning an admin on IRC to block such vandals. And they did it also. Barras (talk) 19:15, 9 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

An other example: First this then this and then [1]. It is the same, but not so fast. Only 2 edits and blocked. Barras (talk) 19:28, 9 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

It is up to admin discression. While I personally give more warnings there are times when I don't. However if I am going to do a block after only one warning I usually make the duration shorter. I don't think Barras did anything wrong as its up to him how strict he wants to be. I tend to be pretty strict once I do get to the point of blocking. -Djsasso (talk) 19:55, 9 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

I can honestly say that I never use the four-level warning system in my administering on the English Wikipedia. Sometimes you can call stuff pretty early on; someone that puts "FUCK YOU {username}" or something similarly unsavory into an article isn't going to suddenly stop once reverted and warned. For example, nothing in Xxdemonkaiserxx's three contribs strikes me that he'd be someone that will ever be productive; we're better off just getting rid of the trouble-makers sooner rather than later. AGF isn't applicable in the face of evidence to the contrary. EVula // talk // 05:20, 10 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

I think you should look at past revisions before reverting to the old one, as with the Dunkirk article a couple of minutes would have shown you the reason for the change (deletion of duplicate info and addition of new info). Dont automatically assume it is vandelism just because I havent had chance to create an account, I happen to be a History teacher! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 138.38.154.105 (talkcontribs)

Thanks. How do I get some lovely userboxes like you have on your profile ? ThisIsAce (talk) 20:47, 9 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
You can copy them from my page or collect them from other userpages. I don't know which one do you want. Barras (talk) 20:51, 9 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
Is there a list somewhere ? Most of my details are different to you ! :-) ThisIsAce (talk) 21:01, 9 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
This is a list of babals. The Germany user box is self-created. And the others are collected from other userpages. Most of the boxes are in the usernamespace of other users and you can changes the settings. "{{xxx|<setting>"}}. That is all what I can say about this. I hope it helps. QD#G4

Hey Barras. Articles should not be quick deleted under criterion G4 unless it is the recreation of an article deleted by Requests for deletion. A quickly deleted article does not qualify for G4 deletion if recreated. The article can be deleted under the same criteria is was previously deleted, or, in the case of Quamf, under A4 (not notable). Thanks! EhJJTALK 17:28, 11 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

OK! Thanks for the tipp. The problem was that the IP created the article 3 times. The first 2 deletions were under G1, only the last not. But good to know. I will do it next time better. Btw, for me the deletion createria isn't so important. Important is that the delation is right. Thank you. Barras (talk) 17:36, 11 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hey

Hallo Barras. Schonmal danke. Alfred Nobel (talk) 17:02, 13 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Done - Wie du wünschst. Solltest du mal wiederkommen, dann melde dich einfach und du kriegst die Rechte wieder. Barras (talk) 17:06, 13 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

block times

Why are blocks 31 hours long? What is so special about 31 hours? They do it all the time at en.wp. Griffinofwales (talk) 17:31, 21 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Our block interface has different obtions (2h, 24h, 31h, etc.) I don't know why I used exactly this time. I could also use 24 h. Better you ask an en.wp admin. I really don't know. Barras (talk) 17:33, 21 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
In my humble opinion, it's to do with blocking someone who may be editing from school for, effectively, 48 hours, as it stops someone editing at the virtually the same time of day on the following day (if you catch my drift)... The Rambling Man (talk) 17:35, 21 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
I see, but I thought the IP trackers that we have would be able to detect if an IP belongs to a school or not. Griffinofwales (talk) 17:37, 21 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
31 hours is a very nice number ;) I check only if the IP is a school IP or not when I will block it for a longer time eg one week. Barras (talk) 17:40, 21 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Thanks!

Hello there, can you have a quick look at Khat, to see that with our current article we no longer infringe copyrights? - Thanks. --Eptalon (talk) 11:00, 24 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

I don't think it does. Let's see what Barras thinks. Pmlinediter  Talk 11:03, 24 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
It is ok, because the word order and the senteces are changed. It is not copied from another website (per automatic copyright check). The infobox is under level of creativity and we have to use the same information. The look of the box is the same, because we use the same like en. Barras (talk) 11:10, 24 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
