Hello :)

change

We love new people over here, as you've found; my talk page is always open if you need anything. Also, this may help you (or it may not- feel free to improve it if you like). I'll see you back at MOTD! Cheers, sonia♫♪ 02:16, 2 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thanks, that was somewhat helpful. As usual (I did this at en) I prefer to get involved slowly, learning the rules and community as I go. I do like this smaller, closer-knit community where it feels like there is a lot I can do. Hey, I could probably even be an admin here someday! So yeah, I'm still working more at en, but my time here is on the rise. The different phrasing and feel is what gets me, but I'm becoming more accustomed to it. Out of curiosity, is there somewhere with statistics about how much this one gets used? A lot of the editors I've seen are en people who have to write down to simplify - are there very many not-as-experienced-English-speakers who edit much? PrincessofLlyr (talk) 02:30, 2 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
Also, do you know, I took a look at the page you linked and several times I saw "simplier". I'm accustomed to AmEng, is this a British thing or just wrong? PrincessofLlyr royal court 02:33, 7 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
"simplier"? No, that's a typo. Please fix it if you see it- I have no idea how it got in. (My English is neither American nor British, though leaning toward BrEng.) To answer your previous questions: There's an abundant variety of stats at WP:Statistics. We have several editors for whom English is a second language, but they are all quite competent- much more so than I will ever be in any language other than English, anyway. Regards, sonia♫♪ 02:38, 7 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
Thanks! I changed one of the typos, with a very detailed edit summary, but left the rest in case I was just being ignorant. I was kind of hoping it would get a reaction, either right or wrong, but obviously no one was watching. Oh well. My English is natively American, but heavily influenced by my British reading, which is why British spellings slip in every once in awhile. Thanks for the answers - interacting with people makes me much more motivated to work. (which is quite the discussion at en as to whether or not I myspace - do you have an opinion?) PrincessofLlyr talk 02:53, 7 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Milk

change

Hi PrincessofLlyr. :) Just wanted to thank you for joining simplewp, and a small compliment to your beautiful name. I saw you were homeschooled in your en user page, and was glad another homeschooler joined simple! ;) As you might have guessed (or already known from my user page), I'm homeschooled christian too. Please, ask me if you don't get anything - though I highly doubt that, as you seem to be much smarter and tactful than me - and I hope you stay here. The more editors, the better! Here's some milk to congratulate you for being new.

  Mmm - Milk!
A tall, cool glass of milk just for you! Milk somehow promotes WikiLove and hopefully this has made your day better. Spread the WikiLove by giving someone else a glass of milk, whether it be someone you have had disagreements with in the past or someone putting up with some stick at this time. Enjoy!

Don't drink the milk too much, it isn't good for you... Sorry, ;p I couldn't afford to buy organic! If you want to leave a message on my talk page, do, although I won't be replying soon due to a wikibreak I'm going to get into. I wanted to give one more loving message to a person before I took one... that's you! Well anyway, you're free to send me a mail if you want an immediate reply (as I check it everyday and always rejoice in a new letter). :) Thanks, and bye now! Your admirer,

Belle tête-à-tête 07:43, 7 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

How sweet! Thank you, Belle. I'm still getting my bearings around here, but the community seems to be very friendly, so I think I'll stick around. Thanks again, PrincessofLlyr talk 13:02, 10 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Welcome to WikiProject Literature! I hope you have a delightful time here and improve lots of articles on literature!

  The Literary Barnstar
For doing more work on literature articles in one day than anyone else in the project (including me) had done for months. :) Thank you very much for your quality work! Very sincerely, —Clementina talk 01:38, 20 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
Oh wow! I think I need to stay here-it takes way less work to get recognized! Seriously though, I do plan to do some extensive work on the Narnia related articles. I'll probably get around to creating articles for the other books in the series in the very near future. Feel free to follow behind me and make sure it's simple enough. I'm still getting used to writing this way. Thanks, PrincessofLlyr talk 01:44, 20 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
Hmm. Narnia- now there's something I've read and can work with you on. (Still trying to get hold of War and Peace.) Good work, and yes please do stay :) sonia♫♪ 01:47, 20 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
I would love that! It's so different here - so much to do! It makes me feel much more needed. I can work on the things I really know about (books). Oh, and random fact, there's a character in W&P with your (user)name-Sonya. I'm about half-way through now and not bored yet. Even my librarian said it was boring, so I'm just dying to prove her wrong! There is a fair amount of Tolstoy-esque philosophy, but not nearly as much as I remember from Anna Karenina. Lots of story, the only difficulty being the massive amount of detail and the sheer number of characters and plot to keep up with. PrincessofLlyr talk 01:56, 20 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
(change conflict)  It's great fun looking over the Narnia articles, but your changes already seem plenty great till now (and quite readable). :) War and Peace, boring? Certainly not! (Speaking of which, I'd better try looking over it right now). Anyway, I do hope you'll stay, I'm sure you'd make a major difference! Cordially, —Clementina talk 02:01, 20 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
Have you read it? Not many people have...in fact I have yet to find any RL friends who have. I'm still reading, so can't work on the articles until then. I'm a strict believer in preserving suspense. I'm going to hang around. I have lots of books I can write about - does it get better than that? PrincessofLlyr talk 02:10, 20 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
Yes, I was certainly very much impressed by it, though I didn't really understand some of the battle parts...but what scenes that I could sympathize in, I enjoyed. :P You're right, how can you realize the true first beauty of a book without its suspense? :) Well, I'm glad you've decided to stick around. Abundant blessings! —Clementina talk 02:31, 20 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
Hey, while you're here, I just put The Lightning Thief up for peer review. I think it's almost ready for PGA, but I don't have much experience with the process here. Comments on the article's suitability for GA would be much appreciated. PrincessofLlyr talk 02:47, 20 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
Mmm, Narnia and PGAs, is that the subject of the discussion here? :) If it is, count me in! I'm a...well...fan (is this the right word for the sentence?) of them both. :p And Clementina: Why is it that you always give barnstars and cookies etc before me when I wanted to give them? Princess of Llyr really deserved that barnstar, anyway. Have a nice discussion here, and just a very small bit of advertising: if anyone is interested, join my wikiproject! ;) Seeing that the royal Princess here has so much potential for project working...Oh no, I've just talked up a hurricane. QD reason for Di:bazooka max young

change

The template "nonsense" (QD:G1) relates to an article which has incorrect information, which suggests that it makes no sense, hence, nonsense. This is not the case for Di:bazooka max young; the template "test page" (QD:G2) is more suited, as the page is more more of a person wanting to create a page for no good reason.

Note: Please remember to leave a message about undoing or reverting edits or acts of vandalism on the user talk page of the victim.  PolymathSJ Talk 17:48, 20 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

One question. How many red links must have a VGA. 2 red links? Nataly8 (talk) 17:49, 12 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

I don't actually know the answer to that. The article needs as few (little) red links as possible, preferably none. You would have to ask someone else for exact numbers about what is acceptable. Sorry I cannot help more. PrincessofLlyr talk 17:51, 12 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Good morning. I finished with Aang. I did a simplify but I see that other tell that it needs some more. What you think? Nataly8 (talk) 12:38, 17 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Belinda has given you some beautiful, lovely roses! Enjoy the scent!

Nataly8 (talk) 13:19, 17 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the roses! Aang has a good start. The biggest problem is that it hasn't changed that much from the enwp version, especially once you get past the lead. Shortening and simplifying that is important. Also, the link to Avatar in the lead needs to be made more specific. PrincessofLlyr talk 13:23, 17 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Make it shorter? How? And why? I already tried to do a simplification. I will start again. Nataly8 (talk) 13:43, 17 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Um, less complicated is more what I meant. If there are any unnecessary details, remove them. The longer and more complicated the article, the harder it is for simple english reader to understand. You've got a good start, it just needs more. PrincessofLlyr talk 14:01, 17 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

I didn't think that are informations that are not need. It just need simplification. I finish with the red links so we can do it today. Nataly8 (talk) 14:04, 17 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hi, why you didn't put the nomination of TLT in the project's page? Nataly8 (talk) 18:21, 17 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Which project's page? I left a note about it on the talk page of WikiProject Literature. PrincessofLlyr talk 18:24, 17 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

In the talk page? Hm, interested. I am thinking to create one wikiproject about animation, but I am not sure. Nataly8 (talk) 18:25, 17 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Any comments about Aang? Nataly8 (talk) 12:19, 19 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Pretty much the same as before. Very little has been simplified past the "In the series" section. The point of simple is to simplify. So even if you copy (import) an article from enwp, you need to simplify the entire thing. That doesn't mean changing one word here or there. It means making everything about the article less complex, easier to understand. Right now it still reads almost exactly as the article on enwp. PrincessofLlyr talk 12:52, 19 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

I did a simplification :( Nataly8 (talk) 12:55, 19 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

American people category

change

Hey. When you create an article, please don't categorize it as Category:American people. That's too big a category. Use one if it's subcategories...we have subcategories for all fifty states, and categories relating to ethnicity, religion and vocation of Americans as well. Purplebackpack89 06:09, 21 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Um, I assume you're referring to Robert Frost? I don't remember categorizing that...yes, Barras actually added the categories to that one. But thanks for letting me know! PrincessofLlyr talk 14:11, 21 August 2010 (UTC)Reply
Might have been that one. By the way, could you simplify Frost a bit? Purplebackpack89 15:10, 21 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Barras has a commanding lead in the Plum Division with 135.5 points, Yottie leads the Royal Division with 68.5 points, and PiRSquared17 and Kansan are also off to good starts. However, several editors have yet to claim any points at all! In addition, none of you have claimed a GA, VGA or the Edison bonus, bonuses that could break this competition wide. Hope that changes in the next two weeks! Purplebackpack89 15:10, 21 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

I'm sorry, PrincessofLlyr, but I was impertinent enough to copy your idea on my WikiProject because it was growing so stale and I was afraid it would get moldy (that is, if it isn't moldy already). ;) I gave you credit, though. Thank you most warmly, dear Princess, for your permission and luck. You are a real expert of WikiProjects and Adopting! Hi there, remember that when you leave warnings or report vandals to WP:VIP you should sign your comments using four tildes (~~~~), just like on any talk page. Also, generally speaking we don't jump in at level 3 warnings for what are really only minor edits, and nor should users be added to WP:VIP unless they vandalise after their final warning, not when they receive one. Thanks, Goblin 15:22, 14 December 2011 (UTC) I ♥ Barras!Reply

Thanks, yeah I had forgotten about signing it. As for the warnings, they had just created the account, but had been jumping back and forth between that and an IP, which is why I escalated the warnings and report so quickly. They just struck me as a vandal that would not be easily distracted. But thanks for the note. PrincessofLlyr talk 18:47, 14 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
